A
group of local Davenport, WA. farmers have gotten together for a
Vintage Harvest demonstration. They have rescued old combines
and tractors and restored them to running order to provide a
demonstration of what it was like to harvest wheat using the
machines that their fathers used. This will be the 3rd year for
Vintage Harvest and it seems to get a little bigger each year.
There is no admission for this event and the guys do it out of
their love of machinery and history. It was fun to see the old
timers that came out, reminisce about what is was like to have
to farm with this equipment and the changes that have taken
place.
The event is scheduled for Aug 27 & 28 on the Guhlke Farm 1-1/2
miles east of Davenport on Hwy 2.
